UTILITY POLES

Not just a product supplier – Civilmart Poles in-house engineering team, with a combined 60+ years of concrete pole design experience, provides a range of services to support our products.

DURABILITY

Civilmart Power Poles have been employed by most Australian electricity authorities within their transmission and distribution networks for decades, and are acceptable for use across all QLD, NSW and VIC utilities, and from 11kV to 330kV applications.

Concrete is known to be the superior material of choice when considered over its whole design life, with minimal inspection or maintenance requirements (reducing ongoing OPEX), bushfire resistance, impact resistance and suitability for alpine or coastal environments. Concrete poles have higher structural damping properties leading to less vibration and resonant dynamics.

Civilmart Power Poles are manufactured using our unique Duraspun® spun-casting process, which creates a high-density concrete mix with low permeability. Our poles are highly resistant to effects caused by temperature, weathering and soil impurities, such as acid-sulphate soils, acidic soils & air-borne chlorides.

Civilmart poles have low deflection at low loads and high deflection in over-load situations (avoiding cascade failure). Cracking caused by overloading then takes advantage of ‘autogenous healing’ for self-repair. As concrete ages, the concrete strength increases. The strength and factor of safety (FoS) of Civilmart Power Poles therefore increases with time, unlike poles of other materials. This strengthening leads to better Distribution and Transmission line reliability.

Combining strength, lengths and embedment options, we have over 800 power pole designs. Our poles are available in single piece designs up to 24 metres for easy installation, or in a range of multi-section designs to suit site access or lifting constraints. Our range includes:

  • RC poles from 8.0m/10kNu through to 55.0m/100kNu
  • RPC (pre-stressed) poles from 16kNu/14.0m through to 46.0m/100kNu
  • RSP (for high sustained load applications) from 15.0m/60kNu through to 56 metres or 680kNu
  • Bollard / Stay poles from 32kNu to 200kNu , and 8 to 15 metres.
  • Pole-Piles – our innovative Pole-Pile range allows for installation in low-strength soils or where acid sulphate soil excavation is to be avoided..

RELIABILITY

Civilmart Poles are uniquely placed, and highly experienced with, large-scale project supply, and commonly supply projects requiring hundreds of poles, delivered within limited time frames. 100% Australian manufactured, we are not limited by overseas manufacturing or logistical constraints for supply of concrete poles. Lead times can be as low as 4 weeks.

Civilmart Poles two dedicated manufacturing plants in Wodonga, Victoria and Rockhampton, Queensland, have the combined capacity to produce approximately 10,000 poles per year. Our manufacturing process offers infinite adjustment, allowing for custom pole designs to be easily manufactured within limited timeframes.

Pole fittings are also infinitely adjustable, providing flexibility to each pole specification.

Poles can be delivered to site a week after manufacture, and Civilmart works with our logistics partner to ensure a smooth direct-to-site or direct-to-depot delivery process. Poles can be installed as soon as they arrive on site.

DEPENDABILITY

Our in-house engineering team has 60+ years of experience in the design of concrete power poles. This accumulation of knowledge and expertise allows us to provide a number of related design support services, including:

  • Customised pole designs (non-standard lengths, strengths or section lengths for multi-piece designs)
  • On-site inspection, structural analysis and reporting of damaged in-service poles, and provision of pole repair methodology to avoid having to replace poles.
  • Direct in-person support for line designers, and supply of technical documentation to support pole specification.

PLS-POLE libraries, and technical data packs, are available for our power pole ranges. Contact Civilmart to request more information, or to book a ‘lunch & learn’ session.
